The basic feature of the discovery engine is to provide recommendations based on current preferences. These preferences should be input as a search query, consisting in one or more titles, of various types, separated by commas (band names, movie, show, book or game titles, author names).
The tabs above the main search input allow users to specify the desired type of the recommendations. This way, when the "Movies" tab is set, the system will recommend only movies. For example, someone can get movies recommendations based on favorite bands.
For most recommended items, additional details are available once the user decides to click on that particular item. These additional details may include a description, a video clip, and links towards helpful resources that can help users form a better impression on their recent discovery.
Besides retrieving recommendations, members have access to useful additional features.
Once logged in, you can:
The profile contains the things you like and dislike, and other useful information.
You can do this either from the tooltip that contains details for each item, or directly from your profile.
Personalized recommendations based on your liked resources are presented on the homepage, after log in. Also, all the resources that you already manifested an opinion on by liking, disliking or saving them, are removed from the recommendations.
Users that share common interests can interact and discuss on their favorite bands, movies, etc.
This way you can show your appreciation for other people's tastes. Also, it will promote the liked members activities within your "Members feed" and include their activities in the weekly update we are sending to registered users.
Recent searches are presented on the homepage, after log in, near the "How to search" tab.
