Costco Is Pushing for a New Food Court Pizza Variety

Costco’s vintage food courts and the meals they offer are a major draw for customers. In recent years, several menu items have been discontinued, but members can always count on a few standard favorites such as pizza and hotdogs.

The chain’s $1.50 hot dogs and pizza, which are still available for $1.99 per slice or $9.95 for an entire 18′ pie, have long been popular options with unchanged pricing since they debuted on the menu. However, when consumers order a whole pizza, there is a small change to be aware of.

Costco has started using new How2Recycle labels on their Kirkland Signature pizza boxes. This is part of the company’s efforts to make its products more sustainable.

The introduction of the new, slimmer packaging was inspired by findings from a 2020 research commissioned by the Recycling Partnership and mentioned in Costco’s Food Court sustainable packaging section of its website.

“Even small amounts of grease on the packaging, as determined by the study, permitted for recycling,” as mentioned in Costco’s Food Court website. “Therefore, in 2021, we added the How2Recycle® label to our food court pizza boxes to inform our members about this.”

The How2Recycle stamp establishes a standard procedure for identifying which items can be recycled and providing clear instructions on how to do so.

Costco, as one of the country’s most well-known pizza chains, creates and sells a big number of cardboard boxes and labeling is designed to reduce waste. The chain’s initial October 2021 Facebook announcement about the adjustment, on the other hand, elicited some confusion and concerns about recycling pizza boxes as well as certain limitations that may apply.

Some recycling directives were mentioned in the comments that the new pizza boxes would be unable to follow. Despite this, if you grab a pizza from the warehouse now, it will have the revised label on it.

Fortunately, for fans of the treasured combo pizza, this is all that’s new right now in food courts. It appears that Costco hasn’t budged on its return and that the vegetarian, pepperoni, and sausage combination is still missing.
